In my post, “Why should McCain’s lies surprise anyone?”, a commenter actually has the nerve to post a link to a YouTube video that features a voiced-over Obama. And I’ve actually just watched a longer, better clip, where the sound is properly synchronized so it’s clear that it wasn’t manufactured as I originally thought. But it’s also clear enough to me that when he says “I win in that category”, what he means is that he hasn’t been as dishonest, dishonourable and disrespectful as McCain, so he wins in the honesty category.
It’s poorly stated enough that I can see how you can interpret it that way (if you want to interpret it that way), so I’ll call it a gaffe.
But it’s still dishonest to claim that he states that he’s run the more dishonest campaign and that he’s proud of it.
